Police Cuff Dad In Front of 6-Year-Old For ‘Not Social Distancing’

The dark side of America’s new police state is beginning to rear its ugly head. Case in point, police officers reckless, authoritarian interaction with a Colorado man that led to the police officer handcuffing the man in front of his 6-year-old daughter.

Police accused Matt Mooney of Brighton, Colorado of violating stringent social distancing policies. Three officers accosted Mooney and his daughter at Donelson Park and asked him for his identification. Because Mooney felt he was doing nothing wrong, he refused to hand over his ID. Mooney was playing a game of t-ball with his wife and child when the police decided to pick on him and his family.

But officers decided to escalate the situation, causing his daughter to become upset.

“She’s like, ‘Daddy, I don’t want you to get arrested.’ At this point I’m thinking, ‘There’s no way they’re going to arrest me, this is insane.’ I’m telling her, ‘Don’t worry, Daddy’s not going to get arrested. I’ve done nothing wrong. Don’t worry about it,’ and then they arrest me.”

A former Brighton City Councilman named Kirby Wallin video’d the incident using his smartphone.

“He’s being taken by the Brighton police for playing softball with his daughter in an empty park,” Wallin said.

In an interview with local Colorado’s Fox 31’s Problem Solvers, Wallin said, “I find it hard to believe with all the things going on in our communities, the only way to resolve a situation like this was to handcuff a father in front of his daughter.”

A sign at Donelson Park reads “closed,” but fine print explains that groups of four persons or less are fine.

And in the do as they say, not as they do, portion of the story, there is this:

“During the contact, none of the officers had masks on, none of them had gloves on, and they’re in my face handcuffing me, they’re touching me,” he said.

Mooney spent 10 minutes in the back of the police cruiser while cuffed. He asked for an apology, but the Brighton police instead posted a lame message on Facebook about “conducting an investigation into the situation.”

When you ask for the police state, you get the police state. The question now is, when will Americans wake up and realize they traded their liberty for the facade of protection from a virus. Make sure you have your SHTF plan and gear. Because if America doesn’t turn back on, this will become the new norm.
