ESEE-6 Survival Knife Review | Best Prepper Knives
As a part of our Best Fixed Blade Survival Knives series, I introduce to you, the ESEE-6 Survival Knife. Officially called the ESEE Minus 6 Plain Edge Knife, this is a powerful survival knife that boasts a great reputation among preppers and survivalist alike. It is a fixed blade knife that would make a great addition to any bug out bag essentials list. As my ESEE-6 Survival Knife Review will most definitely show, this survival knife is as legit as any.
When it comes to preppers and survivalist, the two camps mostly argue of the use of terms. Survivalist really do not care for the “prepper” term because the mainstream has made it out to be some sort of lunacy. But that’s what mainstream media does. The ESEE-6 Survival Knife Review | Best Prepper Knives is a great prepper knife. It is durable. It is capable of performing hunting and camping duties. And hey, if you needed to defend your camp site from zombies, you could do some real damage with the ESEE-6 Survival Knife.
ESEE-6 Survival Knife Review Introduction
The ESEE-6 Survival Knife is made by, ESEE. Well, that was obvious, but I do like to write these survival knife reviews keeping in mind that this might be someone’s first buy in the market. ESEE has been around since 1997 and they’ve been considered a top knife manufacturer ever since. Mike Perrin and Jeff Randall founded the company and haven’t looked back. They wanted to make a true survival company and did so, calling it Randall’s Adventure & Training. So the company is ESEE, but Randall’s training company makes the knives. None of that matters though, all that matters is that the ESEE-6 Survival knife is a quality experience from beginning to end. These knives are tested in the field before they are released to the general public. Much o that testing takes place down in the Amazon. Yeah, these guys are pretty serious about testing their survival knives for quality experience purposes.
The total knife length: 11 3/4″
Weight is right at a pound
The color is black
ESEE-6 Survival Knife Blade
The ESEE-6 survival knife blade length comes in at 6 1/2″. It is considered a drop point blade. The blade is a powerhouse experience that can be used to chop wood. The blade is made from 1095 high carbon steel, which is darn solid. It isn’t VG10 steel, but I’d still classify it as a good steel. Expect the blade to have a razor-sharp edge right out of the box. The downside to this blade’s steel is that it can lose an edge, so make sure you have a sharpener that you use after rigorous usage. But sharpening knives is just parf or the course if you use this knife a lot. As a hunting and camping knife, this blade truly holds up.
ESEE-6 Survival Knife Sheath
It does not come with one, and honestly, that is fine by me. Survival knives which come with great sheaths are knives with benefits. I don’t ever consider a sheath as an essential inclusion. If the sheath is great, that’s awesome. Otherwise, I can figure out a sheath on my own, including by making one.
Conclusion: The quality of the ESEE-6 Survival Knife is outstanding. This is an higher end purchase and worth every cent. This could serve as a core option if you are an avid survival knife collector, but similarly, this would be a great start for a first-time knife buyer. This ESEE-6 Survival Knife review is all good stuff, so don’t get the wrong impression, however, you have options both in knife quality and knife pricing. You can always check out my Fixed Blade Survival Knives series and learn more. Or, check out more reviews and information on the ESEE on Amazon.
