Federal Government Buys Gas Masks, Balistic Helments, Riot Gloves…
The Federal government is stocking up on gear that would be used to combat riots due to coronavirus shutdowns. The riot gear includes riot and disposably gloves, ballistic helmets, gas masks, and disposably handcuffs.
The obtained gear is listed on a government receipt. The purchase order also includes police protection equipment. The purchase was authorized under the “in response to COVID-19 outbreak.” Some of the equipment is to be used to protect the Veterans Affairs facilities.
A private security company named Redcon Solutions Group, which is comprised of Iraq war veterans is set to receive $1.6 million in funding to help protect “Covid-19 screening security guard services.”
Private security contracts are on the rise following the Inspector General’s report that shows shortages in VA police and essential employees. The report reads that there in “additional strain caused by the need for additional police presence for COVID-19-related screenings” of veterans at health facilities nationwide. It calls for additional support through private security contracts.
“Between 2005 and 2014, VA police departments acquired millions of dollars’ worth of body armor, chemical agents, night vision equipment, and other weapons and tactical gear,” The Intercept reported last year. But an Inspector General report in December 2018 found there was little oversight. “The OIG found that forces at roughly three out of every four facilities were not receiving timely inspections. Further, the sparse data collected on police activities was not tracked or assessed in any systematic or rigorous way.”
The $2.2 trillion stimulus package passed last March also beefs up protective gear for police and prison guards in every state. Some of that money will fund drone technology and more body cameras for police.
Let’s be honest, the government is hedging a bet against incoming mayhem and calamity. With more and more people losing gainful employment and continued isolation wreaking havoc on people’s mental well-being, it’s safe to assume we are heading in a poor direction. While protests nationwide have been peaceful, the longer the shutdowns continue, the closer we get to unrest. As a citizen, it’s your duty to create your own SHTF plan. A potential future is being telegraphed, don’t disregard the warning signs.
