Incredible Time Lapse Video Shows Mustang Devoured By Lava
Hawaii’s most active Kilauea volcano has hardly let down on its billing. As of yesterday, the Kilauea volcano eruption had already consumed 26 homes and unleashed several large earthquakes, including one that measured 6.9 on the Richter scale. Kilauea has around 9 tents erupting currently, a situation which has caused incredible photos around the big island to be shared online.
A new video showing a Ford Mustang being destroyed by the ensuing lava is simply mind-blowing. The video is speeded up using a time lapse and it shows just exactly how powerful and surreal a volcano’s lava push can be in a community that would be otherwise normal.
The volcanic event is not over. There are several cracks in Kilauea’s rift zone that continue wreaking havoc on the region. Get volcano facts.
“The area continues to be unstable with volcanic venting and related hazards of earthquake and poisonous gases ongoing,” the Hawaii Civil Defense Agency said Saturday night.
One of the most notable cracks is at the Leilani Estates location. The USGS has released a number of photos showing just how magnificent and deadly this area of the eruption is.
CNN affiliate KHON reported that Hawaii County Civil Defense administrator Talmadge Magno said that although things were in a better direction, “we’re pretty certain that we’re not done yet.”
The official Kilauea volcano eruption began on May 5, 2018. First responders have reportedly fallen ill after lengthy exposures to gas.
