ISIS Threatens Biological Attacks On West, San Francisco Specifically Featured
ISIS media outlets are distributing posters and video propaganda encouraging biological attacks on Western countries. The circulated posters feature images of San Fransisco and a man wearing a hoodie releasing a green gas above the city.
The ISIS propaganda encourages the use of “droppings from rats that cause the plague” and “Cholera virus is extracted from the patient’s waste” and Typhoid bacteria found in both animal and human wastes. It instructs followers to “sprinkle” the bacteria in drinking water, as well as grocery store foods and produce that sits exposed. Later in the video, it speaks directly to the West, saying, “we will make you fear the air that you breathe.”
The interpretation of this style and tone of messaging shows that ISIS likely isn’t in possession of difficult to obtain biological chemicals. Clearly, the terrorist organization is attempting to rely on its followers obtaining biological warfare bacteria through more creative, less-traceable means. This implies that ISIS is not in a current state of power that allows it to gain access to such biological weaponry.
ISIS Plays To ‘Lone Wolf Mentality’
The video reminds ISIS followers worldwide of the continued U.S./European bombing of Muslim nations. It aims to embolden those who aspire to seek revenge for “humiliations.”
The crusader alliance continues bombing Mosul, Raqqa, Al-Anbar and others… with various types of chemical bombs and incendiary gases. And similar to the enemies of God! We invite you, oh Muwahid [monotheist] who lives between the Mushrikeen [idolaters] that you clean the dust of humiliation and to renew the fatal nightmare in the land of the devil worshipers with a silent destructive weapon.
Followers who take on such a deadly task are asked to take precautions so that they remain safe throughout the biological warfare process, in other words, they don’t accidentally infect themselves.
A voice at the end of one of the videos says, “To our brothers in Aqidah [creed] and Iman [faith] in Europe, America, Russia, Australia, and elsewhere, your brothers in your lands have absolved themselves of blame so leap onto their tracks and take an example from their actions and know that Jannah [paradise] is beneath the shadows of swords.”
The goal of the video is to inspire lone-wolf style attacks. ISIS is notably depleted and even, defeated, in former strongholds such as Syria and Iraq, the result of aggressive Trump administration military actions in both regions. The video and propaganda renew and remind us that ISIS is a former shell of itself, however, such threats should never be taken lightly regardless of what state ISIS is currently in.
ISIS, Down, But Not Entirely Out
ISIS remains a part of life in Iraq where the thinned out organization still carries out rogue roadside attacks and even assassinations on Iraqi political figures. Many ISIS members have retreated to mountainous regions as a way to live in cover where they’ve been almost impossible to root out.
Russia has warned Western nations to not underestimate ISIS, at least not just yet. Russia’s FSB director, Alexander Bortnikov, warned last April that Al Qaeda and ISIS may form one cohesive unit.
Annually, 1,600 terrorist attacks occur worldwide. More than half of those are derived from the Islamic State. Since 2014, 150,000 people have lost their lives in the attacks. Since 2016 alone, the number of casualties is over 27,000.
Produce, Water, Always At Risk
The concept of poisoning America’s water and produce with deadly bacteria is certainly not an unheard of potential strategy. We’ve long feared a disruption in the way of poisoning our food and water. Grocery stores are a prime example of exposed food sources that terrorist could easily taint and infect.
A biological attack via any terrorist group or foreign nation could create devastating consequences for modern infrastructures. While the threat of a biological attack that aims to cause a pandemic is authentic, many people often forget about the potential and forgo pandemic prepping. A biological attack could lead to the collapse of society. Those who don’t have a prepper antibiotics storage, stored water and food sources, and potentially a means for self-defense, could suffer terrible consequences even without being infected with the specific deadly bacteria.
