CDC Surrounds Passenger Plane At JFK Airport Over Potential Outbreak
CBS News is reporting that a passenger plane traveling from Dubai to New York City is now in quarantine at JFK airport.
The flight landed at 9:10 a.m. Wednesday with numerous passengers reportedly ill.
The CDC says that around 100 passengers, crew included, “complained of illness including cough and some with fever. ” The CDC is currently evaluating the passengers.
Oddly, Emirates Airlines is contradicting the CDC’s claim of “100 passengers fallen ill,” claiming that only 10 passengers are ill.
“Emirates can confirm that about 10 passengers on board flight EK203 from Dubai to New York were taken ill,” the airline said. “On arrival at JFK, as a precaution, they were immediately checked by local health authorities, and those needing medical attention will be attended to. All other passengers will be disembarking shortly. The safety and care of our customers is always our first priority and will not be compromised.”
Ambulances and emergency vehicles currently have the plane surrounded and are hoping to prevent an outbreak or epidemic or pandemic.
One passenger says that the illness struck many before the plane took off from Dubai.

New York City Mayor Bill DeBlasio’s office says that there is an ongoing flu outbreak in Dubai and “early indications point to that as a possibility.”
