Millions Of Bottled Waters Found Covered In Puerto Rico
What could be as many as a million bottles of water have been discovered on a landing strip in Ceiba, Puerto Rico. The finding has many officials baffled seeing that the supplies of water were likely intended for Hurricane Maria victims a full year ago.
The bottles of water are covered in a blue tarp with some areas of the tarp notably peeled back displaying the bottles.
“Although you don’t believe it… almost a million boxes of water that were never delivered to the villages,” posted Abdiel Santana, a photographer working for a Puerto Rican state police agency who took the pictures. “Is there anyone who can explain this?”
FEMA is confirming the odd discovery via CBS News.
Why weren’t the bottles of water distributed to those in need? That remains a mystery.
José Andrés, a celebrity chef, wants the situation promptly investigate. Andrés has been on the island for a week helping to feed the needy.
“My teams knew about it but first they will say, ‘no we can not use them,’ months later water was no good for human consumption,” he tweeted. “We were ‘buying’ water because they wouldn’t give it to us.” He didn’t specify who “they” was.

The discovery could lead credence to Trump’s claims that the Federal response to Maria was stifled by local Puerto Rican officials.
Back in Late September of 2017, Trump lashed out at Puerto Rican mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz, accusing her and other officials of slowing the hurricane relief response.
“Such poor leadership by the Mayor of San Juan and others in Puerto Rico who are not able to get their workers to help,” Trump said. “They want everything to be done for them when it should be a community effort.”
Cruz, at the time, asserted that the people of Puerto Rico were “dying” due to little to no help following the massive Hurricane Maria that is estimated to have killed near 3,000 people.
But was a tarp containing a million bottled waters just left to bake in the sun while Puerto Rican officials claimed they were receiving no Federal assistance?
The question now becomes, did Trump and the Federal government send supplies that were either intentionally or accidentally missed? Leaving a million bottles of water on a runway to bake in the sun while people are living without clean water seems like a serious error.
