Researchers Find ‘Fake Science’ Plagues Academic Journals
Academic publishers and journals are publishing fraudulent papers, according to a new report. A group of researchers published laughable, completely false papers to a number of academic journals to prove their claims. One of the published papers was titled, “Dog Rape Culture.”
The team of three researchers published 20 completely fake papers.
The authors said they are attempting to prove that academia is obsessed with identity politics. However, their absurd accepted submissions may have collateral damage across a number of other controversial verticals, such as climate change and the pharmaceutical industry.
The Wall Street Journal, who first published the findings on October 5th, called the research “fake news comes to academia.” Many people and some journalist have long contended that academia is ripe with fake studies, particularly in the controversial field of climate change.
The research team consisted of mathematician James Lindsay, editor-in-chief of current affairs magazine Areol, Helen Pluckrose, Portland State University’s Peter Boghossian.
The team targeted controversial subject related to trendy, ‘social justice’ inspired issues. Gender, Place & Culture, the title of one of their papers, found that dogs were sexually harassing and sexually assaulting other dogs in dog parks. Yes, this paper got published, read, and shared as reality.
Dog Rape Culture Paper Readily Accepted
Researcher Helen Wilson, who claimed to have a doctorate in feminism studies, asserts that dog parks are “petri dishes for canine ‘rape culture.” The authors assert that dog owners should respectfully pay attention to their dogs sexually harassing/assaulting behavior while at dog parks.
This proves that there is no depth to the lunacy that our extremist herd will readily accept as science, so long as the lunacy confirms their own beliefs.
The researchers published a paper titled “The Conceptual Penis as a Social Construct” in the journal Cogent Social Sciences. In this study, the researchers related the penis to climate change. I’m not kidding.
“I think that certain aspects of knowledge production in the United States have been corrupted,” D.r Boghossian said in the WSJ article.
“For us, the risk of letting biased research continue to influence education, media, policy and culture is far greater than anything that will happen to us for having done this,” D.r Lindsay said.
Academia Conspiracy Theories ‘Conspiracy No More?’
For years, many of us have asserted that billowing social justice political agendas have tainted and corrupted academia. These researchers have confirmed and legitimized some aspect of these claims.
Associate professor of sociology at Duke University, Kieran Healy, lambasted academia on his Twitter account, confirming the lunacy.
Many people accuse our colleges and universities of coddling a social justice agenda that runs counter to logic and the constitution. Those who dispute the idea that universities “indoctrinate” students to socialists and unscientific views are now on the defensive, following this new report.
Academia being under fire isn’t new. Just last October, I wrote a piece on a prominent cancer researcher lying about his ties to pharmaceutical money in published research papers. The issue of fraudulent, “fake academic papers” is a reality in a new world of hyper-need-to-be-rightness. We can’t trust academic guides anymore than we can trust our media. That’s a sad state of affairs for all of us.
Worse more, the situation isn’t likely to improve anytime soon. College professors consistently defend social justice agenda positions throughout the nation. They’ve allowed for absurd “scientific” research to infect journals because, for them, the cause is greater than the validity of the science backing the research.
If a research team writes a paper asserting gender confusion in four-year-olds, most academics will turn a blind eye towards the potential lack of legitimacy in the standards of the research.
That’s where we are. And it isn’t a good place to be.
Our future depends on a change in academia. We must separate social justice agendas from research initiatives. We are burying any remaining semblances of legitimate science. Continuing the acceptance of fake science will eventually slow our nation’s growth in numerous sectors. That should be obvious to every one of us.
