Tropical Storm Alvin Now Hurricane Alvin (What To Know)

UPDATE: Tropical Storm Alvin is now Hurricane Alvin, the first named hurricane of the 2019 hurricane season. Yes, early reports had Alvin dwindling, but instead it’s churning up warm Pacific waters. Let’s have a closer look at Hurricane Alvin’s full specs.
Alvin is moving 16 mph to the northwest. It should make a turn towards the west-northwest. At that point, Alvin like shift down in speed. The Maximum sustained winds are now clocking 75 mph, making it a low-grade category 1 hurricane. Alvin should go back to a depression as originally forecast, but now that chart is moved to Saturday. Alvin should encounter poor hurricane-growth conditions here soon.
Hurricane force winds are branching out 10 miles away from Alvin’s core. The eye’s pressure is 29.40.
PRIOR REPORT: Tropical Storm Alvin made its debut in the East Pacific this morning. The official observation time that displayed hurricane conditions was 11 AM. Tropical Storm Alvin was prior known as Tropical Depression One-E . Alvin is the first named storm of the 2019 hurricane season.
As it stands, Tropical Storm Alvin is less than 500 miles to the southwest of Manzanillo, Mexico. The storm is moving at 14 mph. Its maximum sustained winds is right at 40 mph.
“Some additional strengthening is forecast during the next day or so. Weakening is forecast to begin on Friday, and Alvin is expected to become a remnant low on Saturday,” the National Hurricane Center said this morning, according to Honolulu’s Star-Advertiser.
Tropical Storm Alvin is expected to weaken back to Tropical Depression by Wednesday night. So as of now, it poses no risks outside of potentially heavy rains.
