Turkey Introduces Bill To Jail Parents Who Don’t Vaccinate Their Children

The anti-vaccination movement and vaccine safety movement is trending on a global scale. Places such as the United States and Australia have moved towards tougher vaccine laws as a way to counter a movement that they feel is harming the world’s health. Turkey has now set the stage to confirm every parental rights’ activists fears by proposing jail sentences to those who choose to take a pass on their children’s vaccinations.
Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) deputy chairman Sefer Aycan submitted a new legislation last week that, if passed, would jail parents who don’t vaccinate their children for a minimum time period of six months, but as much as a year’s time.
According to the Daily Sabah, Aycan’s bill would be the first mandatory vaccination law passed in Turkey.
Aycan is attempting to persuade Turkey’s Constitutional Court that the country is in a state of health limbo and that his measure, as draconian as it clearly is, would be the only way to save the country’s health.
Turkey’s vaccination rates have slumped over the past few years as more and more parents around the world have grown wary over the sheer number of vaccines.
In 2014, a total of 1,370 people passed on vaccinations. In 2015, that number rose to 5,091. By 2017, it was 23,000 people.
The WHO has warned the country that it has an issue with “the spread of wrong information on vaccines and how this may lead to public distrust regarding vaccinations.”
Now, Turkey has a wide open door for confiscating basic parental rights in exchange for more perceived personal security. Does that sound familiar? It should.
The country claims that “herd immunity” will collapse, leaving a portion of their country’s immune compromised, such as cancer and AIDs patients, in the bullseye.
The problem now becomes one engrained deeply in basic human rights. If a country can jail a parent for not taking one pharmaceutical grade medicine, where will it end?
The vaccine industry is exploding, with vaccine potential tied to nearly every major disease.
Would we someday jail a parent of a child that “acts out in class” for deciding against giving their child a recommended daily dose of Ritalin?
This has nothing to do with anyone’s opinions on whether or not a specific vaccine is effective, that’s simply not relevant to this argument. This has to do with people deciding if they trust any government with the ultimate power and final say over their child’s medical life.
Will we begin jailing those who refuse a flu shot?
The potential for authoritarian disaster is much greater than the potential for a massive health tragedy. The herd needs to decide for itself what medications/vaccines it is willing to take on an individual level. We can’t exchange freedom for the mirage of more personal safety. When we do make such exchanges, it becomes our first step to being enslaved and ruled.
