UK Officials ‘COVID-19 NO LONGER HIGH CONSEQUENCE INFECTIOUS DISEASE

Following today’s roll back of doom and gloom COVID-19 death tolls from Epidemiologist Neil Ferguson, who now says he was wrong, UK health officials downgraded the threat level to just around the flu.
The downgrade is causing controversy all over the Internet as many citizens in the United States question restrictive, sometimes draconian, shutdowns. Over 3 million of your fellow Americans sit in their homes tonight, jobless, depressed, and feeling massive anxiety. Wrap your heads around that.
Here is MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough, just 7 hours ago, questioning Trump’s decision making using the now-debunked science.
The President and his closest aides changed course after reviewing the Imperial College report suggesting 2 million Americans could die from COVID-19; so did Johnson’s UK government. A week later, the British are still sobered by those estimates. Is Trump? https://t.co/FgjEafa3OW

Here is the official statement located on gov.uk.
Status of COVID-19
As of 19 March 2020, COVID-19 is no longer considered to be a high consequence infectious diseases (HCID) in the UK.
The 4 nations public health HCID group made an interim recommendation in January 2020 to classify COVID-19 as an HCID. This was based on consideration of the UK HCID criteria about the virus and the disease with information available during the early stages of the outbreak. Now that more is known about COVID-19, the public health bodies in the UK have reviewed the most up to date information about COVID-19 against the UK HCID criteria. They have determined that several features have now changed; in particular, more information is available about mortality rates (low overall), and there is now greater clinical awareness and a specific and sensitive laboratory test, the availability of which continues to increase.
The Advisory Committee on Dangerous Pathogens (ACDP) is also of the opinion that COVID-19 should no longer be classified as an HCID.
The need to have a national, coordinated response remains, but this is being met by the government’s COVID-19 response.
Cases of COVID-19 are no longer managed by HCID treatment centres only. All healthcare workers managing possible and confirmed cases should follow the updated national infection and prevention (IPC) guidance for COVID-19, which supersedes all previous IPC guidance for COVID-19. This guidance includes instructions about different personal protective equipment (PPE) ensembles that are appropriate for different clinical scenarios.
Cuomo is still contending he needs 30,000 vents even after this study, which US also relied on, was corrected: “Imperial College scientist who predicted 500K coronavirus deaths in UK revises to 20K or fewer” https://t.co/JktiAuq65w

1/ This is a remarkable turn from Neil Ferguson, who led the @imperialcollege authors who warned of 500,000 UK deaths – and who has now himself tested positive for #COVID; https://t.co/AfEeePbZL1

We are now closing in on what may be the most massive political blunder in modern history. Over 3 million of our fellow Americans lost employment which is linked to this study’s substance as it heavily influenced world governments. This is a sad day in America, no doubt, but let us hope that common sense prevails.
